Jan´s Video Cloze corner
The Video Cloze is an exercise (I) designed to improve your listening skills. Use headphones if possible and print the PDF Worksheets from this site. Most students of English are familiar with the conventional Cloze exercise: a text from which (usually 20) words have been deleted that have to be put back in the right gap. In the Video Cloze 20 words have been muted so there are now silenced gaps. A number appears in the bottom left corner for every missing word(s). From Box 1 of the Worksheet you can then choose the word you think should go in each gap and write them in Box 2. You should set yourself a time limit of about 30 minutes in which you can go back and forth in the video as often as your limit will allow. It's an interesting activity for the language lab at school where each student has a PC and headphones. Students can also use their mobile phones and earphones if there is no language lab. You can have Time-outs in which students compare their anwers. If you click on Key / Script you can check your answers, but don't go there until you have tried everything you could to get the answers yourself. Enjoy!
